About:
MakeDeathsCount (MDC) is an international health nonprofit organization that partners with NGOs and Ministries of Health to improve mortality surveillance worldwide. We achieve this using our novel methodology of analyzing survey data using machine learning algorithms to produce likely causes of death in a community.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Global Ambassador (GA). This position is ideal for those interested in global health, medicine, international affairs, law, business, and consulting. You will develop skills transferable to many careers with insights into how international projects are developed.
Description: Global Ambassador
MDC is looking for a GA who is passionate about the intersection of global health and technology, and is keen on expanding our impact in their specified country. MDC has identified target countries for expansion in which the GA will serve as a key driver. Our GA will serve as a trusted advisor and representative of MDC for the communities we hope to serve.
Our work entails building relationships with multiple stakeholders, identifying key fundraising opportunities, strategic partnership making, and project management. Therefore, our GA would represent us in a capacity to help build strategic partnerships in their target country. These partnerships can include local, national, or international organizations who will serve as on-the-ground partners for developing mortality surveillance projects. The GA will exercise their creativity and project management skills to lead different initiatives in achieving our aims. Research, identify, and reach out to different organizations that can be strategic partners with us, to build potential connections with the goal of launching a project.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Develop a strategic written plan for key stakeholder identification, fundraising, project development, and associated milestones.
- Develop a needs assessment for the country with research on current mortality surveillance efforts, if any.
- Communicate with organizations in different capacities from funders, NGOs, and local nonprofits.
- Build relevant relationships with the community of interest, this can be done with local and international organizations associated with our project, public health organizations, smaller charities, local philanthropists, etc.
- Host events virtual/physical to spread awareness about the mission of MDC, and build support from members of different communities.
- Advise us on how we can advance our project goals in the work we are doing in other creative endeavors.
Requirements:
- Average of 10 hrs per week
- Unpaid position with potential for commission bonus based on performance
- Mostly remote with some in-person events
- Strong preference for undergraduate & graduate students
- Deep interest in improving their communities abroad
- Multicultural sensitivity
- Sales/relationship-building experience
